Welcome to the world of Cloth Diapers!

We are going to provide you with a little break down of cost comparing cloth to disposables.

You will be able to save a lot of money using cloth, but mostly you will be saving the environment for our future, your children and mine.

At the most basic level, a cloth diaper consists of a cloth diaper to absorb wetness, a cover to keep the wetness away from the baby's clothing, and optionally, a liner to wick wetness away from your baby's skin.

You can choose between All-In-One Diapers (AIOs) that incorporate all 3 components, a Pocket Diaper which has the cover and lining sewn together and allows you to choose they type (absorbency and thickness) of insert to place in diaper, or either Fitted Diapers or Pre-folds with the cover of your choice.

You can select diapers that fit specifically for each stage, or purchase one-sized diapers that will cover many, if almost all, of your baby's diaper stages.

The Break Down on Disposables

Best case scenario, your baby goes through 5 disposable diapers a day and is potty trained at 2.

Please keep in mind that most newborns go through 10-12 diapers a day for a good two months and then that number tapers off.

Most children are not potty trained till about 2.5-3 years of age.

The Cost:

1 pack of 54 diapers (brand name) costs on average $16 a pack.  So that is .29 per diaper x5 diapers a day = $1.45 a day.

There are 365 days in a year, so that's $529.25 a year (if you only use 5 diapers a day and that cost).

How many diapers did you throw away in 1 year??? 1825 disposable diapers thrown away in only 1 year!

In 2 years you will spend $1,058.50 on diapers and would have thrown away 3650 diapers!

If your child potty trains at 3 the cost of diapers could be $1,587.75 and 5475 disposable diapers in the landfill for one child.  That's HUGE!

The Goods on Cloth

The best reason to switch to cloth is environmental, but also it can save your family a lot of money in something that is so very simple to use.

Cloth is not the same as when our Parent's or Grand Parent's used diapers.  No more soaking in bleach, no more pins, no more hand washing.

Cloth today is simple, and yes, Fun!

If you breastfeed your baby you don't even have to do any rinsing of diapers.  Just toss those dirty diapers in a dry pail and throw them into the washer.  Once your baby starts eating solids is when you will have to clean them a bit better before washing.  But our Diaper Sprayers make that easy too!
